READING OLYMPICS

Each year the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit sponsors the Reading Olympics. This event is a celebration of reading! Last year over 6,000 students participated from 21 school districts!   Teams work together to read 25 books. At the Reading Olympics competition, teams answer questions that test their knowledge of plot and story content in order to earn points towards a ribbon. Teams earning 40 points or more are awarded a blue ribbon. All team members leave with a greater love of literature and stronger reading skills!

Teams of 10-12 students meet one day a week during recess with coaches to tackle the book list, discuss books and prepare for the big event that will be held in the spring.  Teams  work together to read all 25 books in this years competition. All books are available at school and many are available digitally.
